seed out of pools and training partner, Darius Kim to make the top 8. He was down 5-0 but made a comeback and won 15-11. He then lost to Schuder in the top 8, 12-15. In Y10 Men's Epee, Thien Scofield fenced beautifully after finishing 22nd out of 43 fencers in the Y12 Men's Epee event earlier in the day to fence the Y10 Men's Epee event in the afternoon and came home with the Silver! His best result yet! He was exhausted but still managed a 5-1 record in pools and once DEs hit, he found his stride. He got a bye into the 16, fenced and won 10-2, then fenced who he lost to in pools in the 8s and won 10-5, he fenced his friend, Joshua Ferriere, in the semis and won 10-4 to make the finals. He fenced another friend, Sebastien Noel, in the finals, was down 8-1, started a come back, but was too tired and lost in the finals 5-10. Great job to both boys and their awesome hard work! Let's keep fighting!
another sword trophy and the Gold with Ryan Lee(Swords) taking home the Bronze. In Y14 Women's Epee, (the final event) Amelia Wu(Swords) took the Silver with Nora Wang(Swords) and Emily Zhou(Swords) who both brought home the Bronze! What a day and way to fight girls! Congratulations to all the fencers, their coaches and their families!

I know the reason why Zoe Kim won a gold medal at the recent Torrey Pines RYC; it's because she really worked hard to bag that medal and she dedicated her game to her family. When you have your inspiration, nothing will go wrong. I know that all athletes have exerted their best effort, but I've seen Zoe Kim's journey in trying to be the best athlete that she could be. I witnessed all the hardships and everything associated with it, and I am glad that she has reached her goal!
