In Y12 Women's Epee, Y10 fencer Zoe Kim had a rough time in pools, but showed up strong in her first DE with a decisive 15-2 win. She then fenced the eventual Gold Medalist and lost 5-15 but tried some new things and didn't give up! Great job! Sometimes in fencing, it isn't always about winning because you have to learn how to lose to learn to win and also learn from your mistakes or weaknesses. but lost to the #12 nationally ranked fencer 14-15, Darius Kim fought well and finished 22nd. Allez Fencing Studio fencers did well as well. Chester Thompson in his 2nd tournament ever, placed 32nd and won his first DE out of 46 fencers. Thien Scofield, our littlest Y10 fencer, fenced well and fought hard. He was down 7-2 in his first DE, came back to tie it 12-12 and lost 12-13. What a fighter! In Y10 Women's Epee, Zoe Kim fought hard all the way to the finals and was down 1-7 to come back 6-7 to lose 7-10 but way to fight! She takes home the Silver medal against a tough opponent! She has come a long way and we look forward to the growth of all our fencers! In Y14 Men's Epee, Jonathan Oh did great for his first Y14 tournament and went 3-3 out of pools to lose his first DE but he learned a lot for a y12 fencer! Darius Kim fenced well, went 3-2 in pools, won his first DE and lost to get to top 16 by one point to one of the top Y12 fencers in the nation! He also earned his first Y14 national points which trickle down to his Y12 standings! Great job! Also, Ryan Lee fenced hard and came home with the Bronze after losing to the eventual Gold medalist! He fenced well and learned some great lessons. It was a pleasure to coach them all and I look forward to their future successes.
