Great job to our fencers and stand-in coach, Rowen Hicks, for filling in for me at the Shazam Slam in Arizona last weekend! In Y10 Men's Epee, Andrew Moore did a great job in pools and beat the eventual Gold Medalist 5-1, but lost in the DEs to finish 5th overall! Great job! Nicholas Hicks fenced in his 2nd RYC ever and won his first DE to finish 8th overall! Excellent job boys! In Y14 Men's Epee, Rowen Hicks came out of pools in 3rd and had a hiccup in DEs losing to finish 9th overall! He had a great start to the day and many new lessons learned with a greater desire to work harder. In Cadet Men's Epee, Rowen Hicks also fenced hard and had a rough day in pools, but won his first DE 15-14 and then lost his second DE to the eventual 3rd place finisher, 14-15, to place 14th overall! Great job! He also did a great job helping the little ones in Y10 as I was unable to attend. Great job boys! Let's keep working hard and move toward the future! I am happy to hear this news! These kids are on their way becoming a professional athlete, and there's a bright future ahead of them. Kudos to coach Rowen Hicks for being patient and hardworking because he never gets tired in teaching these young dreamers to reach their dreams. The journey could have been more difficult without his help, but the kids worked hard too because they have a great coach. I just admire the relationship between the coach and these young athletes!
