Why Fencing?

Fencing is a beautiful sport that challenges both the body and the mind. Started as a way to end duels, it has a great emphasis on sportsmanship and finesse. We focus on one of three weapons, which is epee. Through competition as well as studio training, fencers build stamina, strength and coordination while honing technique and all types of strategy, likened to physical chess.
The fencing community draws in people of all ages, ethnicity, and backgrounds, many of whom hold a shared emphasis on the importance of education. Many fencers go off to top Div I fencing schools such as Stanford, Columbia, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UPENN, Notre Dame, Penn State, UC San Diego, and many more.
Though not a specifically team sport, fencing does inspire a sense of community with others through competitions and practices at their club and local competitions, as well as through regional, national, and international competitions while allowing the individual to accomplish much on their own. It has now also gained popularity as an Olympic sport as well.

It is also an ageless sport. The very young to the older, seasoned "young at heart" can start and compete as they see fit, bringing generations together in the sport of fencing.

So look for a program for you or your child or take a private lesson and see if fencing can't broaden your world just a little bit more behind a mask and epee.
